William Crowley

Now in his 15th year in the digital music business, Bill Crowley is currently VP/Digital + Mobile for eOne Music (formerly KOCH Records) and Entertainment One Distribution. Crowley is responsible for digital and mobile initiatives, digital store marketing andoperations for the Entertainment One's own eOne Music label and its eOne Home Video company, and its 200+ distributed music and video labels.


Over the past decade Crowley has led KOCH and eOne's digital music initiatives, achieving strong market share and multiple gold and platinum digital singles and ringtones. Crowleymanages overall company relationships with eOne's global DSP and mobile partners, and directs company's business, marketing, operations and reporting efforts. Most recently, Bill has led successful negotiations for Entertainment One's global digital films and TV shows rights with iTunes, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Hulu, Sonic/Roxio/Cinemanow, Vudu, and Sony, among other big names and promising startups.


Before joining Koch Crowley helped pioneer the development of online and digital music markets. He launched the first online music store in 1989 on the Compuserve Mall and was a founding music executive for "Internet Music 1.0" startup Musicmaker.com in 1997. Musicmaker's custom CD and digital download store launched in 1998, and quickly amassed a roster of over 100,000 songs from 100+ independent labels. While building toward an eventual successful IPO, Crowley wasinstrumental in securing the first broad unbundled digital music license with a major label group (EMI).


Crowley is a member of the Producers & Engineer's wing of N.A.R.A.S, and was honored with a Grammynomination (shared with Ringo Starr and Bruce Sugar) for his production work on
Ringo's 1998 release"Ringo 5.1" album in the Best Surround Sound Album category. Crowley also orchestrated the critically acclaimed the restoration, remastering & reissue of The Kinks' 1970's and 1980's catalogs for standard CD's and audiophile release on SACD. Crowley has A&R'ed and/or executive produced albums by Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes, The Who, Dave Davies of The Kinks, The Smithereens and others. He has receivedmultiple gold and platinum awards from the RIAA for his productions.


Crowley is a co‐author of “Understanding The Music Business” with industry legend Irwin Steinberg, and is a regular guest lecturer for degree courses at New York Law School, and at Columbia College of Chicago’s Graduate Music Business program. He received a BA in Political Science and Economics from Northwestern University, where he was also ABD in the Film Division of Northwestern's Radio/TV/Film department. He is also an alumnus of New York University's MBA program.
