Horst Weidenmueller

CEO, !K7 – (Germany)

The past, present and future of the !K7 label group is strictly connected with Horst Weidenmueller.

In 1985 he founded !K7 as a music TV production company working on festival documentaries and live videos for bands like Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Einstürzende Neubauten, Mudhoney and many other rock acts.

In 1992 he released the first edition of the X-MIX Series: digital video clips along with specially mixed DJ sets that featured Richie Hawtin, Laurent Garnier, Dave Clark among others. One year later !K7 decided to launch the DJ Kicks series, which has been described as the “Rolls Royce of DJ Mix compilations” and involved artists as Kruder&Dorfmeister, Daddy G, Thievery Corporation and Nightmares on Wax. In 1996 Horst Weidenmüller launched !K7 as an artist label.

Five years later he started Rapster Records (Princess Superstar, Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock and the “Kings of…” series) which since 2002 has worked closely with the UK based label BBE.

Next to this, he also founded Ever Records: an indie rock label which brings the label group back full circle to its roots with artists such as Cortney Tidwell, Howie Beck and brand new Icelandic band Amiina.

Horst Weidenmueller is also Vice President of Impala and VUT.
