Josh Wittman

Director of Marketing, RedEye Distribution/Yep Roc Records

Josh’s career in the music industry began in 1988, the same year that Public
Enemy released their seminal album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.
And in a happy coincidence, that record was actually one of the first records that
Josh worked as an intern in the College Marketing Department at CBS Records in
NYC.  After returning to school, Josh became a college rep in NC working radio,
press and retail in what was soon to be known as the ‘next’ Seattle due to the
large number of bands coming from the area.

Post-graduation and after bumping into people he recognized in a record store in
Chicago in 1993, Josh was offered a position at Mammoth Records, a burgeoning
indie label who had just signed a joint venture with Atlantic Records.  Josh
worked in Retail Promotions, Sales and eventually become VP of Marketing & New
Media (dot com bubble one) during seven years and several Gold (Juliana
Hatfield, Frente!) and Platinum (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Seven Mary Three) albums.
After the company was sold to Disney and eventually dismantled, Josh formed
The Splinter Group, an advertising and marketing company with a couple of
former Mammoth-ites.

After 5 years (2000-2005), Josh left to join respected indie distributor Redeye
Distribution as Marketing Director where he currently manages a department of
six people who work directly with the company’s distributed labels.  In addition,
he focuses on other areas of work including Business Development, Digital,
Communications and Licensing and Partnership for both Redeye and in-house
label Yep Roc Records.
